PRESIDENT | Thad Johnson [President@4hrpoa.org]
Term – 2022 to 2025
My wife and I live full-time in Four Hills Ranch and enjoy the changing seasons and growing off-grid community. We love our home and basking in the splendor of Cataract Canyon. Having lived here many years, I’ve experienced various road, rancher, hunter and other issues. I want to use that experience to help preserve the beauty and serenity of our neighborhood and the safety of our friends and wildlife.
As a board member, I will welcome everyone’s input to ensure our association’s goals and resulting board actions are reflective of our entire membership’s requirements. Sometimes we’ll agree and sometimes we won’t, but I’ll work diligently to represent the majority’s “point of view” and the best interests of the entire membership. At the end of the day, we’re neighbors ALL the time.
SECRETARY / TREASURER | Dennis Van Roekel [Secretary@4hrpoa.org]
Term – 2021 to 2024
I have served on the Board since June 2015. My wife and I purchased our property in 2001 and initiated construction of a garage and guest house in 2007. We completed construction of our house in March 2015. We are both retired and love spending time in our mountain home. We divide our time between our home in Phoenix and Four Hills and plan to continue to enjoy Four Hills with our children and grandchildren.
Prior to retirement, I taught High School Math for 23 years and later held the positions of Secretary/Treasurer, Vice President, and President of a large non-profit organization.
My wife and I are looking forward to being part of the growing active community in Four Hills. I have a great interest in preserving the natural beauty and environment of Four Hills Ranch. As a Board member, I will work hard to uphold the CC&Rs and Bylaws and spend the time needed to ensure a financially strong and viable Property Owners Association.
VICE PRESIDENT | Kim Shuey [Secretary@4hrpoa.org]
Term – 2022 to 2025
I am glad to have been elected onto our 4HR POA board. I am a recently retired Registered Nurse of 33 yrs. My husband and I finished our home here last summer. Since then, we have been living in Four Hills Ranch as permanent residents. I am eager to be involved with the events and the decision making involving our community. I feel that living here full-time will provide added needs, concerns and information to the board regarding its residents. I am in favor of improving and protecting our chosen way of life.
DIRECTOR | AnnMarie Bice [Board@4hrpoa.org]
Term – 2022 to 2025
I am a property owner in the 4 hills ranch. Currently, we are about 5 month residents of 4 Hills Ranch which consists of many weekends and 3 months in the summer. In the next year, Ken and I will be permanent residents of 4 Hills Ranch and we could not be more excited! I have served in many leadership positions throughout my career and feel that because I live and am invested in the 4 Hills Ranch community, I would be a great fit for the vision of the ranch and advocate for community advancement and future plans as the community develops.
I have graduate degrees in both chemistry and physics and have taught high school physics, chemistry and engineering for 25 years. Currently, I am teaching chemistry and physics at the college level.
In addition to my teaching assignment at the college, I am the Program Manager for the NASA High Altitude Balloon Program where I manage a substantial Federal Government grant.
With my experiences as a Federal Grant Manager, teacher, 4H leader, and Robotics Coach, I have much experience in public interaction, leadership, and organization. This along with my love of 4 Hills Ranch, I feel I am well suited for a 4 Hills Ranch board position and welcome the opportunity to participate and collaborate in decision making processes that supports and benefits the residents and owners within the 4 Hills Ranch.
DIRECTOR | Tom Makofske [Board@4hrpoa.org]
Term – 2022 to 2023 (Appointed)
After serving on the 4HRPOA Board from 2007 to 2010, I decided to take a break and serve as an Alternate Board Member for a few years. I was appointed a Board Member in 2019. I have lived in Phoenix for over 25 years and bought two lots in 4-Hills in 2001. It was purchased as a relaxing getaway from the city with thoughts of eventually building a second home on the property. I usually spend a couple days a month on the property where we camp, hike, and just enjoy the solitude and nature.
After the bark beetle attack a number of years ago, I decided to re-forest parts of the property. After planting over 300 trees and hauling 1000’s of gallons of water from Valle, I have learnt quite a bit about the type of environment we own on 4-Hills. “Mother Nature” can be difficult. Cows, deer, elk, grasshoppers, and drought were all against me. Most of the trees never made it past 5 years. Some are still surviving, but barely.
I manage information technology projects for a living and have owned my own consulting business for 15 years, so working with people and coordinating activities is not new. I believe I am very level headed and a logical thinker, and where I may take a stand on an issue, I am always open to ideas and facts which can convince me to change my mind. I consider the effects of decisions on others and weigh all the options. I may seem a bit quiet at times, but when required, I can certainly state my case.
